Study Goal
In the ZAP COVID-19 Study (NeutraliZing Antibody Project for COVID-19), we are interested in learning whether levels of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can be used to assess a person’s risk of contracting the virus.
Why is this study being done?
Although it has been well-demonstrated that vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus are safe and effective, immunity in vaccinated persons may decrease over time. It is also unknown how long immunity lasts following infection. It is therefore important to understand how immunity to SARS-CoV-2 changes over time, and how this impacts risk for developing COVID-19.
Findings from this study may help in developing recommendations for vaccine boosters, as well as determining whether measurement of antibodies can be used to assess an individual’s risk of catching COVID-19.
